Moving into a new home is a very exciting time – and decorating it might just be the best part.

After spending a year in temporary accommodation, Sarah Mcleod and her daughter were finally able to move into their two-bedroom council house and make it their own.

After picking up the keys, Sarah couldn’t wait to get started – and after just one week of early starts and late finishes, it was time to move in.

She documented the progress of her renovation on her TikTok @gingersaz, where people praised her for the transformation.

Sarah began by getting rid of the “ugly textured wallpaper”, which she managed to do with no problems at all thanks to a handy wallpaper steamer stripper.

She made a lot of progress on day two, stripping the rest of the wallpaper and painting the ceiling and skirting boards.

At the end of day three, she had successfully finished painting one of the rooms a light grey colour.

It was time to tackle the kitchen on day four, as the beige paper from the walls was stripped and the appliances were installed.

Both bedrooms were almost complete too by the time she clocked in for the night.

“It’s finally coming together,” the mum said when the plush grey carpets were fitted on the fifth day of the renovation.

However, she was still struggling to progress in the bathroom as she said it was the “worst to strip by far”.

Despite being forced to give up on the bathroom, day six was a “win” as the flooring in the kitchen had been fitted – and it looked great.

And then it was officially time to move in.

People rushed to praise her in the comments after seeing the final result, with many sending their best wishes.

One person said: “You’ve done a fab job! It’s been great watching the progress you’ve made! I hope you’ll be very happy there xx”

Another wrote: “Aww this looks amazing congratulations on your new home honey.”

A third commented: “Well done, you have made a beautiful home for your babas.”
