A Boeing 737 plane aborted its take-off from Tel Aviv Tuesday after photos of plane crashes were sent to passengers by nine people — all Israeli citizens — on board the flight using the iPhone AirDrop.

The dailymail.com says the AndoluJet flight was supposed to take off for Istanbul at Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport when the photos were sent.

A spokesman for the Israel Airports Authority said it was not a cyberattack.

The nine people believed to be responsible were removed from the plane, and they could be charged with disseminating false information, which carries a maximum three-year prison term in Israel.

The U.K. Sun reported the passengers were sent images of wreckage of a Turkish Airlines plan that crashed in the Netherlands in February 2009.

“I am sure the police and the security authorities will find out why they (the suspects) did it,” Israel Airports Authority spokesman Ofer Lefler told Channel 12 TV.

When passengers got the images, they told the flight crew, and the pilot headed back to the gate, which was the right call, according to Lefler.

“One woman fainted, another had a panic attack,” a passenger, identified only as Diana, told Channel 12.

The plane eventually took off hours later after security had checked the plane, luggage and those on board.

AirDrop allows an iPhone user to send out images to other devices nearby.
