“Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Pachinko” Secure Nominations for the 28th Critics Choice Awards

Two of the most popular dramas of the year, “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Pachinko”, have secured nominations for the 28th Critics Choice Awards.

The Critics Choice Association – which honours the finest cinematic achievements every year – recently revealed the nominees of the 28th Critics Choice Awards. “Extraordinary Attorney Woo” and “Pachinko” secured spots in the category of best foreign language series alongside “1899” (German), “Borgen” (Danish), “Garcia!” (Spanish), “The Kingdom Exodus” (Danish), “Kleo” (German), “My Brilliant Friend” (Italian-Neapolitan), and “Tehran” (Israeli).

“Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, starring Park Eun Bin and Kang Tae Oh as the main leads, is a story about a genius lawyer – Woo Young Woo (Park Eun Bin) – who is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder. The drama revolves around the young lawyer and the challenges she faces in her personal life due to her condition.

“Pachinko” is a novel-based American production drama that portrays the struggles of a Korean immigrant family as they strive to survive and prosper in a foreign land.

The second season of the drama is also in progress.

This isn’t the first time K-dramas have been nominated for the prestigious accolade. Last year, at the 27th Critics Choice Awards, the thriller K-drama “Squid Game” bagged two Critics Choice Awards out of the three nominations in the categories of Best Foreign Language Series and Best Actor in a Drama Series (Lee Jung Jae).

With such tremendous success and worldwide recognition, the K-drama is expected to return with a second season in 2024.

Moreover, in November, the historical comedy K-drama “The King’s Affection”, starring Park Eun Bin and Rowoon, made history as the first Korean-language series to win an International Emmy Award.
