TVING drama “Island” to officially premiere at the end of the year!

The much-awaited webtoon based drama “Island Season 1” will officially premiere in 2022!

On October 6th, TVING announced that the upcoming drama “Island Season 1” starring  Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon will be released this December. It will be both available on TVING and Amazon Prime Video. 

“Island Season 1” will depict its story from the popular Naver webtoon of the same name created by Yoon In Wan and Yang Kyung Il. It will revolve around the people on Jeju Island who are bound to fight against the veil that’s trying to destroy the world. 

It will be helmed by director  Bae Jong (“Fabricated City”) and the script will be penned by writer Jang Yoon Mi (“Cheer Up, Mr. Lee”).

Kim Nam Gil will play the role of Van, a character who confronts evil but can’t stand being together with humans. 

Lee Da Hee will play the role of Won Mi Ho, a conglomerate daughter, and a teacher. She was sent by her father to relocate to Jeju Island after a big mistake.

Cha Eun Woo will play the role of the Catholic exorcist and priest called John. He protects lives because of his calling and is tasked with purifying evil.

Sung Joon will play the role of Goong Tan, he works alongside Van in taking care of the evil. After an incident, he will be against Van. 

The drama started filming early this year.

The upcoming series was confirmed for production last year. Many have been waiting for the premiere of the drama and how it will adapt the story of the popular webtoon as well the chemistry of the main leads. 

For the first season, the drama will reportedly have 20 episodes. Meanwhile, a second season is already confirmed but the airing date is not yet finalized.
